I thought the backdrop of angry clouds might make some interesting photos.
I photographed small trainer aircraft landing and taking off, along with a few small jets and a helicopter.
I'm all about country. If it has horses, cowboys, cowgirls, bulls, country musicians, or traveling in or out in the country (any country), I’m interested in photographing it! I also have a love of teaching. I am based in Phoenix in the wonderful state of Arizona. I invite you to visit my links below.

A day many horse racing fans in Arizona didn't think would come. I thought horse racing at Turf Paradise was finished once last years season ended in May of 2023.
So it was a happy surprise when the ownership decided to have a shortened season starting 29 January 2024.
Who knows if Turf Paradise will have an operating track next year. But for now, horse racing will live on at least until May of 2024.
First was a demonstration of mochitsuki where glutinous rice is pounded to make muchi, a chewy rcie cake. It can be used in a variety of dishes or enjoyed on it own, sometimes with toppings or fillings.
I even caught a jet coming in to land at nearby Sky Harbor airport.

The theme this year is Gekka, or moonflower. It refers to the gentle light of the moon on flowers at night.
And traditional Japanese music of singing and drums featuring musicians from the Yamaguchi Music Academy in Japan.

Many of us had suspected for some time that the owner of Turf Paradise in Phoenix wanted to sell. News of that broke by September of 2023. At this point, nobody is sure if there will be a buyer as one deal fell through. Nor will we know if any new buyer will want to continue horse racing, which began here in 1956. That also means an end to the off track betting they had in well over 30 locations.
Horse racing in Prescott Valley at Arizona Downs also cancelled their summer season.
A darn shame. Rillito Park
in Tucson, however, says they will continue. I do remember they had meets around the county fair in Cochise County. So we'll see what happens with that.
But it looks like horse racing might be finished in Phoenix.
*UPDATE! It now appears new owners are going to take Turf Paradise! Read more here: https://www.horseracingnation.com/news/Additional_details_emerge_on_would_be_Turf_Paradise_buyers_123

On two dates in December of 2021, I visited Deer Valley Airport on Phoenix's north side.
I photographed landings and touch and goes during both visits.
One interesting tid-bit is Deer Valley Airport is the fifth busiest airport in the world for take-offs and landings.
I used a Canon EOS R6 + Tamron 150-600mm lens.

Only one morning was I lucky enough to get images of hummingbirds. Then in post processing, I had to go in and clean up the images in Photoshop. I also used Lightroom and Luminar ai.

It's time to enjoy some bull riding with hundreds of my closest unmasked friends.
Sadly, the "Chip" sold out of VIP tickets, but I hear that is common. So a bunch of us sat in the bleachers. Still saw some find action.
The photo on the right: a little cowboy pulling up his britches like the big cowboys.
