Buckeye Arizona AirFair 19 Feb 2023 and 20 Feb 2022

 

Buckeye, a city west of Phoenix, hosts a yearly air show each year in February.   Here I share with you images I captured from both 2022 and 2023.

I captured images with both the Canon EOS R6 and Canon EOS R6 Mark II.   

Before the main show, there was an air race of smaller yellow planes that were highly maneuverable.  

After the air races, they opened the show with parachutists.

A variety of planes made an appearance.  The vast majority were propeller planes.  

One interesting plane had both propellers and a jet engine and was made with two aircraft, surplus from the old Soviet air force.

The 2024 air fair will run from 16 to 18 February.  I will be there with camera, of course!

Luke AFB December 2021

Just before Christmas 2021, I met up with Larry Grace, president of the International Society for Aviation Photograph, to capture take offs and landings at Luke Air Force Base in the far west near Phoenix, Arizona.

All images I captured with the Canon EOS R6 and Tamron 100-400mm and Tamron 150-600mm lenses.  

I first parked outside the northern border of Luke AFB to try my hand at photographing take offs.  

Larry then suggested visiting a spot on the south side of the base to get a chance to photograph jets landing.   That worked out well!

Luke AFB is the home of the F-35A Lightening II and the F-16 Fighting Falcon aircrafts.

Pima Air & Space Museum

I hadn’t been to the Pima Air & Space Museum in Tucson since 1989.  Lots to photograph!  Thanks to the good folks like Guy of Tempe Camera for supporting this photowalk.

There were B17’s, lots of small prop planes, helicopters, jets of all kinds… and not just from the United States.  

Planes hung from the ceiling of hangars.  Planes were lined up outside as well.  

And there was a whole hangar dedicated to space exploration, too.
